I am lucky. I grew up in a family of good cooks and food experimenters.  My parents encouraged us to use the kitchen and try new things, as long as we cleaned up after ourselves. On the best days cleaning up meant filling the sink with warm very soapy water and having bubble fights. The kitchen was literally our playground.

In middle school, while other classmates sold candy bars to earn field trip money, my best friend and I started a bread baking business. We sold homemade baguettes to our neighbors for 75¢!

Later years saw forays into a soup business, home cooked meals and gatherings for my single friends I called “stability night”.  I loved food and it loved me. Until I started experiencing intense pain and intestinal distress.

Many restless doctor’s appointments later, I discovered my gluten intolerance and IBS diagnosis. As a mom of 3 young kids at a time when “gluten-free” products were less available and more daunting, I experimented in the kitchen once more.

This turning point in my life led me to create the foods and practices that feed me, and now you, well. Thanks for sharing in this Well Fed journey.
